Shayne Wells from KARE 11 and Metromix stopped out to one of the Doga (dog yoga) classes that takes place at Pampered Pooch Playground. The classes are run by our good friends at the K9-Connection.
Family owned and voted the best place to spoil your dog in Minneapolis!

I want to send a big thank you to all of our employees who worked extra hard the past few days (and today) at doggy daycare as the floor guys installed our state of the art floor in the Ruff House. Doing construction with dogs is never easy, and it is even harder when you can’t use a 3000 sqft play area and the temperature is 112 with the heat index outside. We made use of our training room and the Canine Cove. To keep the dogs cool, our AC was blasting. Late last week I called the guy that invented the flooring, and asked if the weather would be too hot or humid. He said no, the humidity actually helps to keep the smell down and help it dry faster (who would have thought). So full speed it was. So thanks again to our wonderful staff who helped to keep things running smooth on one of the hottest days OUTSIDE in the states history!
Now.. About the floor…. This is a new concept in flooring and we are the first in the Twin Cities to use it! It is not epoxy, it is not rubber, but a mix of the 2. Rolled rubber flooring (even when properly installed) can hold smells, and epoxy floors are hard on dog’s feet and create injuries.. But when you mix the 2.. You get doggy daycare gold! The next room on the list to get a makeover is Waggers Way.
Just wait until tomorrow, we know the dogs will love it! The big question.. Who will be the first to break it in???
Have a good night!

Check out the quick clip of Pampered Pooch Playground setting up for the Twin Cities Pride Festival on KSTP, Channel 5.
Today I was able to sneak out of the doggy daycare for about an hour for a very important meeting. For the past 4 months, we have been working hard with a few of the other premier doggy daycares in the area to form a group to help set standards of care and service for daycares in the Twin Cities. We believe that working together we can help educate people on what makes a quality doggy daycare, and what you should ask and look for when you select one. In the next week, we will be launching the website that will be filled with lots of information for dog parents. We will talk more about this soon, but I left the meeting very excited about the future and what we have planned.
While I was out at the meeting, Gracie was getting groomed by Tami! Gracie belongs to Sarah from Sarah Beth Photography! I brought Gracie home with me tonight because Trycia and Sarah were doing a boutique crawl with friends in Uptown. Gracie and Roxy spent the night fighting for my attention. It was cute!
Have a good day!

I always wonder how some of the doggy daycares with small outside areas, or ones with no outside area manage. Our dogs have so much fun going outside and playing in the sun. Today we had such a hard time getting all of them inside!! This was the first day that we broke out the pools and really had a real “water day”. Everyone had so much fun! Even Bruno the Min Pin (in the picture) loved to stand in the pool! Our outside area is not made up of gravel, but recycled sports turf, which the dogs LOVE! It has all the benefits of real grass, but lots easier to keep clean with no dirt, dust and mud! Our outside area is over 3000 sqft of fun and one of the largest in the Twin Cities!
Finally! The warm weather is here!!
Yesterday we released the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl. So much work went into putting this together with local rescues and other pet related businesses! All the dogs featured are available for adoption from local rescues! Visit the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl website to view it. Happy watching!
Have a good weekend!

Get ready Twin Cities. One of my favorite events of the year is back and bigger than ever; the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl! Last Year Pampered Pooch Playground was a main sponsor of the event, and this year we have moved aside, and let our other business, Bubbly Paws Dog Wash sponsor it. Also part of the event are Sarah Beth Photography, Sidewalk Dog and Just Paws Training. We will be filming all the puppy cuteness this weekend and it will be released online very soon! Look for some pictures this weekend from the filming! Most of the puppies featured in the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl are available for adoption from local rescues. As we always talk about, one of the core values of Pampered Pooch Playground is to give back to the community in which we are located and this is just one way that we do it. If you want to watch some of the puppy cuteness from last year, you can watch the video on the Twin Cities Puppy Bowl website.
Have a good night!

I still think back almost 3 years to April 20th, 2008 which was the first day we were open for doggy daycare. At 6:45am a lady walked in with her dog, Bindi and Roxy got really excited to see her and they started playing in our lobby! Roxy and Bindi quickly became best friends!! For the first year and a half, Bindi came to doggy daycare every weekday. When Bindi spends the night, she stays at our house since Roxy is her best friend. Bindi has been staying over the past few nights and it is really funny to watch Bindi and Roxy try to squeeze onto the couch with us!
Have a good day!

I am not sure how many of you saw the FOX 9 special report tonight, but it was one that paints one Twin Cities doggy daycare in a bad light. Trycia and I were watching the story and I think my jaw was dropped the entire time it was on! I was shocked and could not believe what I saw and heard!! I don’t want you guys to assume that every daycare in the Twin Cities is operated like that one and there are many that are well run (like the PPP). If you want to watch the story, you can click here.
Over the past 2 months, we have teamed up with 2 of the other premier doggy daycares in the area to create the Twin Cities Dog Daycare Association, which helps to set standards of care, staffing and other ways of running the business. We hurried and launched this site today before the story aired to help educate dog owners on how to pick a quality dog daycare and what questions should be asked when you first visit.
As always, if you ever have any questions, comments or concerns please drop me an email (or better yet, call my cell phone 651-238-7673… How many daycare owners give out their personal cell phone number??).
Have a good night, and please feel free to contact me personally with any questions you might have.

Tonight Roxy and I attended the I am Minneapolis photo shoot. We are going to be featured in their fashion, music and networking event in November! Visit IamMpls.com for more details! Featured at the event are locally owned businesses and people that help to make Minneapolis the great city that it is!! Make sure you attend this rocking event!
I know I have said this before, but I am really proud to call Minneapolis home! Of all the cities I have lived, this is one of the coolest (if only the Chicago White Sox called the Twin Cities home).
Have a great night!
