Roxy had fun shopping for pumpkins at super dog friendly Sunnyside Gardens in Minneapolis!

I love the weekends in the Fall! Today we took Roxy to the Lake of the Isles dog park, and decided we should stop and get a pumpkin on the way home! We stopped at Sunnyside Gardens in the Linden Hills neighborhood in Minneapolis. After walking the long rows of pumpkins, we decided Roxy needed to have her picture taken! I love talking about all the dog friendly businesses in the area!!

Roxy Loves the Dunn!

Roxy wants to be the doggy spokesmodel for Dunn Brothers!

Last Thursday night we had a great time attending the Minnesota Wild game in one of the luxury Boxes. As always it is always dangerous to get a bunch of dog people together, and we came up with some great ideas! I love hanging out with our friends that also own cool local dog businesses!

Today we did our typical stop at Dunn Brothers (50th and Xerxes in Minneapolis) with Roxy, and then we walk around Lake Harriet. We always stop so Roxy can drink water, and today we used my empty cup from Dunn Brothers. I think we got a few strange looks thinking we were giving Roxy coffee. Ha! I did tell the Barista that they need to come up with some dog coffee.

Sorry to cut this short, we are off to the final Beer with you Buddy of the season at the Nomad Pub in Minneapolis!

A Mention On Oprah?

Dogs and The Women Who Love Them

I would love to say that Pampered Pooch Playground is so popular that it was mentioned on Oprah’s show, but that is not the case! One of our customers, Leaf’s Parents, are authors and one of their books was just mentioned on Oprah’s website! How awesome is that? There is also a chapter on Leaf that tells his story! I am so proud of them!! They are also starting a local book tour to promote the book. I will post all the details when I have them! If you want to check out the book, it is available on Amazon.com.

I saw the funniest thing today

I love the drive from our house in Linden Hills in Minneapolis to the doggy daycare. You never know what you are going to see. Today I saw a car with a bag of dog poop under the rear windshield wiper. It was so funny, I just had to snap a picture. Hope this makes your day!

Wow, what a fun weekend in Chicago. Trycia and I went to a pet industry convention in Chicago and I was representing Topline Canine (the shampoo we use when we do grooming). We got to meet some really cool people and other daycare owners. We shared lots of ideas with daycares from all over the country! There were lots of people that were wanting to start a doggy daycare, and they think you can just make a building look pretty and make a great logo and you will be a huge success. Most future daycare owners don’t understand the amount of work, education and hands on pack management skills that need to be put into running a successful business.

Eloise the Westie hanging outside at doggy daycare on a beautiful fall day in Minneapolis!

It is so hard to believe that our doggy daycare has been open 2 1/2 years! It seems like we just opened the doors! Eloise the westie was one of the first dogs that attended doggy daycare when we opened and she is still just as excited to run in as she was on her first visit! Side note on Eloise, she is a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears

Today, we hammed out the finishing touches on our Woof-n-Treat doggy halloween party and we got some really exciting news about it today. I don’t want to jinx it by telling everyone about it yet, but it is really cool! Speaking of the party, have you picked out your dog’s costume?? I was at Target the other day and saw a bunch of the costumes that they came in with (in March) to try on our dogs and see how they fit. It feels really cool to be part of a test group for a store and they even listened to some of the feedback we provided (like making stuff for big dogs)! Even cooler!

Meet Puddin’

This week Puddin' is sporting a great collar by Mimi Green!

Today I spent most of the day organizing and cleaning stuff that our customers never see. For example we put a new couch in our staff break room. Out staff work hard and they deserve a great room where they can take it easy for a few minutes. We also installed some new shelving in our food prep area and one of our storage areas.

Today we started a new feature on our Facebook page called Puddin’s Pick. Each week Puddin’ (Our new boston terrier model in the lobby) will feature one our collars. If you purchase the collar Puddin’ is wearing, we will take 20% off.

The Apprentice at a Doggy Daycare

Mitzi loves to rock the hair clips at doggy daycare!

I don’t normally watch this show, but the one this week had the contestants on the show working at a doggie daycare in NYC. It is always funny to me when you see “business men” trying to run a service business and what they think sells and people want. The guys were so “business like” that I just had to laugh the entire show. I think it really helps when a doggy daycare is run by dog people, not business people.

We had a meeting on Thursday to discuss our 3rd annual Woof-n-Treat doggy halloween party and it will be the best yet! I can’t wait to see all the cool costumes!

Tonight Roxy and I attended the I am Minneapolis photo shoot. We are going to be featured in their fashion, music and networking event in November! Visit IamMpls.com for more details! I know I have said this before, but I am really proud to call Minneapolis home! Of all the cities I have lived, this is one of the coolest (if only the Chicago White Sox called the Twin Cities home).

The Puppies

I can't believe how small they are and how big they will be when they grow up!

This morning our dog Roxy had a date at the Airport Dog Park with our breeder, and one her dogs Mira who is also a Bernese Mountain Dog. After Roxy and Mira were done playing, we went back to the breeders house and got to play with the 3 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppies! Darn they are so cute and I wanted to take one of them home! All the dogs were named after Thomas the Train characters, but I thought it would have been really funny to name them after Jersey Shore characters! Can you see one of the dogs named Snookie and another called The Situation???!!
