We have been warning all of our customers that that the Flea and Tick season is going to be a big one this year. We require all of our doggy daycare and hotel dogs to be on prevention from April-October, but this spring, it might not be a bad idea to start early. FOX 9 stopped out to Pampered Pooch Playground to talk to our customers about the top 5 dog breeds that were released by the AKC.
I am not sure how many of you saw the FOX 9 special report tonight, but it was one that paints one Twin Cities doggy daycare in a bad light. Trycia and I were watching the story and I think my jaw was dropped the entire time it was on! I was shocked and could not believe what I saw and heard!! I don’t want you guys to assume that every daycare in the Twin Cities is operated like that one and there are many that are well run (like the PPP). Over the past 2 months, we have teamed up with 2 of the other premier doggy daycares in the area to create the Twin Cities Dog Daycare Association, which helps to set standards of care, staffing and other ways of running the business. We hurried and launched this site today before the story aired to help educate dog owners on how to pick a quality dog daycare and what questions should be asked when you first visit.

FOX 9 was doing a live shot from the doggy daycare today to help promote the Woof-n-Treat doggy halloween party. They were live for 4 hours today, and Ellen our manager was featured on the last break! Way to go Ellen and it was so much fun seeing so many of our dogs in costumes!

Today I learned what Schatzie's name means in German.. It means "Treasure"..
Brrr.. It is finally October, I just checked the weather and it should be a great weekend for our doggy halloween party! Today, when our employees got to the doggy daycare called me right away to say that one of the fence panels in our outside area had blown down. I instantally called our fence company, and within 1 hour they were out getting everything fixed. With almost 60 MPH winds (which are hurricane strength), I am glad that it was the only damage. Many of our customers came in talking about how they did not have power! So that was the big excitement at the PPP today!
Oh, I need to post a picture of one of the funniest costumes that we were working on today! Simon the bulldog will be a star on the FOX 9 news this Friday and we were perfecting his costume. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, so stay tuned for a picture soon.

Wow, what a fun weekend in Chicago. Trycia and I went to a pet industry convention in Chicago and I was representing Topline Canine (the shampoo we use when we do grooming). We got to meet some really cool people and other daycare owners. We shared lots of ideas with daycares from all over the country! There were lots of people that were wanting to start a doggy daycare, and they think you can just make a building look pretty and make a great logo and you will be a huge success. Most future daycare owners don’t understand the amount of work, education and hands on pack management skills that need to be put into running a successful business.

I think everyone, including all of our doggy daycare dogs, want to know when this crazy humidity is going to end. I really don’t mind the heat, but this humidity is CRAZY!! Even the dogs want to just hang out inside in the air conditioning. Meet Keeley who is one of the regular faces at doggy daycare and enjoys hanging out in the Ruff House. Oh, I checked the Fox 9 weather and it looks like it should be cooling off soon.
Last night we got LOTS of rain, so much that it caused some problems for out outside webcam today. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the problem has been fixed and it is now up and running.
We have something really cool in the works, and I really want to spill the beans.. But I can’t yet! Details really soon! Ok, I can’t keep it in anymore. We started a new contest and I will blog more about it tomorrow night, but click here to get a jump start on everyone else.
