Kinnick is the largest of all the Bernese Mountain Dogs that come to our doggy daycare weighing in at about 120 pounds. One way you can tell him apart is by his trademark poofy hair on his head. Kinnick has been coming to us since he was a puppy and is now almost 3 years old! It is often asked, “what is up with the name Kinnick”? His mom went to college at the University of Iowa, and the football stadium is called Kinnick Stadium. He might be a huge dog, but he loves hanging out with the smaller dogs in Waggers Way or the Canine Cove. Kinnick is also a regular face at Bubbly Paws and pulls his mom to the door for his nightly treat!

A Special Visit
Yesterday I had so much fun at doggy daycare and it involved the 2 ladies in my life (Trycia and Roxy). We were all in the Doggie Den supervising some of the daycare dogs playing and Roxy was helping us. Those of you that know her from the lobby know that she like the calm mellow dogs that come in (not the super excited ones that can’t wait to get into the play areas). Roxy does not normally go in the rooms everyday, but her and Trycia are a package deal and they always have to be together. So Roxy was hanging out and helping us supervise everyone. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Even Roxy needs doggy daycare!

When not greeting people in the doggy daycare lobby, Roxy loves going on adventures... One of her favorite places in the Apple Store in Uptown, Minneapolis.
Every morning Trycia asks Roxy of she wants to “go to work”… Most of the time she gets really excited, but sometimes she decides that she wants to sleep in. Today was one of the days that Roxy wanted to “sleep in”. After I left the daycare, I stopped at the dog wash and headed home. We ate dinner and took Roxy on a long walk and she still has TONS of energy! All night she has been running around the house wanting to play. It is super cute, but I also know why everyone loves bringing their pooch to doggy daycare. Roxy does not go in the play areas often, but she gets so tired from greeting everyone in the lobby! Just thought I would share a cute story!
Have a good night!

Why people need doggy daycare
Our dog Roxy is 5 and people always wonder why she is so mellow. It is because she is out of the crazy puppy stage, but she can have her moments when she is wild and crazy! She gets really tired by just hanging out in the lobby at the doggy daycare! This week we are dog sitting Roxy’s niece, who is 8 months old. Zoe has so much energy and she is always trying to play with Roxy. Monday, we took her to doggy daycare and it was so nice to have a super tired puppy at night! I think Roxy really LOVED having a quiet puppy because that meant she got all of the attention. Wow! Sometimes I forget how important doggy daycare is for puppies
Have a great day!

Doggy Daycare makes for a tired Roxy
Many of you get to be greeted by Roxy in the lobby every day and one of the most common questions we get is “dog you bring her to work everyday”. Yes, she comes almost everyday. Every now and then we do leave her at home, but she really enjoys greeting everyone when they come and she gets really excited for Jim, the mailman who comes at 11am with treats for her everyday! Surprisingly Roxy gets really tired from being the greeter each day, when she gets home she will nap for a few hours. I guess it is hard work being “the face” of the PPP. The reason I bring this up is because today we left her home and now she has LOTS and LOTS of energy. We are attempting to play “find it” with treats, but that does not tire her out.
We keep exparamenting with our room configurations, today we tried making one large room (about 4400 sqft) for our waggers way dogs (the other rooms did not change in size. We basically removed the divider between Waggers Way and the Doggy Den. This idea came from a few of our employees and I am a big fan of listening to what they have to say and trying it. The dogs really seem to love this large room and we are going to keep trying it out.
Have a great night!

Bernese Play Time
Today we had a bunch of Roxy’s brothers, sisters and extended family in our training room for a play group! The highlight was the 14 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppies that were there, and we had to make a video of the cuteness!! Enjoy!
Off to the show!

Buckley the bernese mountain dog love being outside in the cool fall weather while at doggy daycare.
As many of you know we love to support local companies (since we are a local company) and we use locally made Topline Canine shampoo and conditioner in our grooming salon. Topline Canine is made by one of our customers and it is a product I really believe in and we were the first business in the country to sell it! So the owner of the company asked if I would help represent him at a large pet expo in Chicago! How could I pass that up? Trycia and I were planning on attending the show anyway and it is geared to pet business owners. So this weekend I will be there talking about how great Topline is and getting new and fresh ideas for our retail area. This show is like NYC’s fashion week for pet businesses and this is our first year attending it. There are lots of industry people that I am really interested to meet and share ideas with.
Have a great weekend!

The Puppies
This morning our dog Roxy had a date at the Airport Dog Park with our breeder, and one her dogs Mira who is also a Bernese Mountain Dog. After Roxy and Mira were done playing, we went back to the breeders house and got to play with the 3 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppies! Darn they are so cute and I wanted to take one of them home! All the dogs were named after Thomas the Train characters, but I thought it would have been really funny to name them after Jersey Shore characters! Can you see one of the dogs named Snookie and another called The Situation???!!
Have a good night.

Which Bernese is this?
When we first opened the doggie daycare we only had 1 Bernese Mountain Dog, and it was Roxy…. Now we have about 2 every day. Kinnick is one of the puppies that comes often and when he fist started to attend doggie daycare he had a HUGE ‘fro on his head. He has now grown into his ‘fro! Kinnick can be seen hanging out in the ruff house!
Have a great day!
